Butterflies are nature’s angels.

They remind us what a gift it is to be alive. – Robyn Nola

This past weekend, we were invited to attend, SOAR located at the South Coast Botantical Garden in Palos Verdes. To view the butterflies in their beauty was simply refreshing for the spring season. SOAR is a beautiful exhibit soaring to new heights with new butterfly experiences for all ages.

The exhibit SOAR features tropical butterflies in the newly built pavilion. In the experience you will encounter over one thosand butterflies in their enchantment of life. The experience begins outside with the new garden area featuring host and nectar plants, and an emergence chamber. Throughout the experience you’ll see butterflies in every stage of the life cycle. Once inside the pavilion, you’ll have the opportunity to watch them in their natural habitat, and, if you’re lucky, have a personal encounter with one! Tip, wearing bright colors attracts butterflies. Most importantly, every step of the way you can learn all about these beautiful insects while having an experience to remember.

Taking my little family was an experience in itself as my two year old daughter was very engaged and interested in being up close to the butterflies. Staff and volunteers were knowledgeable from providing a walk through the garden of the caterpillars to the emergence chamber of growth. Once we stepped inside, staff had lollipops in hand in providing a closer look at the butterflies. It was astonishing to see how beautiful both the male and female butterflies looked so closely. The female butterflies even have larger wings. My daughter enjoyed seeing the butterflies fly so closely and even touched one since none of them landed on us.
